When you ask most people what’s on their list of things they want to manifest this year ‘more money’ is often on there. Money represents freedom, options, luxury, being secure, the ability to live life on our own terms. Yet so many of us find it a challenge. We’re indoctrinated with the belief from an early age that you have to ‘work hard or make money’, ‘rich people are evil and bad’ ‘capitalism is destroying us’ ‘money doesn’t grow on trees’ (although funnily enough when we used to use cash, it did!).
While most say they want more money, a lot of conflict is experienced. Hustling hard, yet feeling like you never really get ahead. You want $10K months, but on some level you’re scared it’s going to change your life, and not in a good way. Success seems so scary, what if you make all this money and it doesn’t actually make you happier. It’s this conflict that stops us from attracting the very thing you say you want.
So where do these blocks and beliefs come from? We’re born as babies knowing exactly zero about money. It’s a made up human construct. So, how do you know if you have blocks around money?
If you take a look at your current money situation, it’ll give you a pretty good indication of where your blocks lie. Working super hard but you never seem to have any left over? You may not feel worthy of holding wealth. Think that you can only make money through your job? You may have been conditioned into believing you can only exchange your time for money. Believe that you don’t want to become rich because rich people are evil? Your mind will never let you become something you hate.
Your mind is like an iceberg. You have the top part of the iceberg above the water, which represents your conscious mind. This is the part of your mind in charge of rational thinking and decision making, and it’s what you use to think with and interact with the world. Beneath the surface, but much larger and more powerful is your subconscious mind. It holds your beliefs, memories, fears, phobias, and everything that has happened to you since being in the womb.
Your subconscious mind is programmed from the ages of 0-7, roughly 14. During this time you exist in a hypnotic state, your rational mind and logic aren’t there yet developmentally. In these years you believe everything you take in from your environment you grow up in, and the feelings and energy in that environment. Think back to the energy around money in the household you grew up in, what did you frequently hear, or feel around money? This is where the basis of your money blocks and beliefs are formed, and as you grow up you continue to see more evidence to support your beliefs.
Millions of ‘bits’ of data exist around you all the time, and it’s your subconscious mind’s job to filter out what it deems important and what it can ignore (the feeling of your seat on the chair you’re sitting on, for example). It does this so you don’t become overwhelmed by your experience. But it shows you information according to your beliefs. Your mind is always showing you evidence to support what you already believe, as this conserves energy for it. So if you believe you must work hard for money, it can’t come any other way, that’s all you’ll see evidence for.
Subconscious programming is fast and automatic, and conscious processing is slow. So if you want to quickly shift your money blocks and beliefs, it’s worth your effort to use your subconscious mind to do this reprogramming as it’s much quicker and less effort. Here’s a few ways you can start doing this now.
You don’t have to do all of these at once. Pick one from the list and commit to doing it now, then you can stack the other options on top. While it takes discipline to change your beliefs, it’s much easier to change behaviour if you pick one thing to focus on and commit to, then add in instead of trying to go hard for one week then falling off the wagon because it’s too much. Your subconscious learns from constant repetition, so it’s more about the length of time you can commit to shifting your beliefs over time, rather than trying to do everything in one day and then never picking it up again.
1. Using hypnosis recordings
Hypnosis is simply a deeply relaxed state where you’re highly suggestible. This relaxed state of mind allows you to bypass your conscious mind and input these suggestions straight into your subconscious. Listen for at least 21 days to lock in the new beliefs. Either first thing in the morning or right as you’re going to sleep is the most effective time (or both!) to access your subconscious.
2. Clear, powerful language when you dialogue with yourself
Your mind doesn’t understand ‘no’. So if you say ‘I don’t want to be broke’, your mind hears ‘broke’. Use powerful, positive, clear language so your mind understands what you really want. If you notice yourself slipping, be gentle, and say ‘I’ve noticed I’m thinking XYZ. I choose to think ABC instead’.
3. RTT or Conversational Hypnosis
Rapid Transformational and Conversational Hypnosis will allow you to go deeper on removing the old beliefs, so you can imprint new ones. Google can lead you to find a qualified practitioner, as you can’t do these on your own, but they will supercharge your results, often clearing the old beliefs in 1-2 sessions!
4. Tapping
EFT or tapping uses meridian points on your body to clear past beliefs, and the best thing is you can do this one on your own! Look up videos on YouTube to be guided through a session, they’re a great way to start the day with your mindset in the right space. Brad Yates and Gala Darling are both great resources for this, and it’s easy to combine it into your morning routine.
