WHAT METAL IS PRISM JEWELRY MADE FROM?

PRISM'S Fine Jewelry is made from 14k Yellow or White Gold.

PRISM's Semi-Fine Jewelry is made from 925 Sterling Silver, or 14k Plated 925 Sterling Silver.

PRISM's Waterproof Jewelry is made from 18K Gold Plated Brass.

PRISM's Fashion Jewelry Collections are made from stainless steel or brass, plated in 18K Gold.

WHAT GEMSTONES ARE USED IN PRISM JEWELRY?

In both our Fine & Semi-Fine Jewelry you have the option of selecting Diamonds or White Topaz as your gemstone.

In our Fashion Jewelry Collections we strive to use predominantly natural stones, such as zircon or agate. Zircon is often confused with the man-made stone cubic zirconia, but is in fact a natural stone that contains metaphysical properties. We occasionally will use man-made stones if we feel it brings a desired design aesthetic. All materials will be listen in the individual product details.

ARE PRISM OFFICIAL CO. DIAMONDS ETHICALLY SOURCED? 

All PRISM diamonds are ethically sourced and adhere to the Kimberley Process which is a global commitment to remove conflict diamonds from the global supply chain. 

ARE PRISM DIAMONDS NATURAL OR LAB GROWN? 

All Prism Diamonds are Natural, unless otherwise stated. All our diamonds no matter the size are scanned multiple times to ensure that there are no synthetic or lab grown diamonds during production. 

HOW DO I CLEAN AND CARE FOR MY JEWELLERY? 

To properly maintain and ensure that your jewellery stays in prime condition, here are some best practices:

- Take your jewellery off before applying any cosmetic products or perfumes.

- Do not wear your jewelry in hot tubs, salt water, chlorinated pools

-Don't wear your jewellery to bed, and make sure to lay your jewellery flat on a soft surface to avoid scratching, tangling and knotting. 

-It is always best to remove your jewellery before exercise or any laborious activities. If you choose not to remove it, you can help to protect your pieces by wearing gloves. 

-You can give your jewellery a wipe down with a polishing cloth before wear for ultimate shine, or scrub with a soft bristle toothbrush and mild dish soap, be sure to rinse with water and dry with a soft cloth. 

-It is also best every 3-6 months to have your jewellery professionally cleaned and inspected by your trustworthy local jeweller. 

-Sterling Silver and Sterling Silver with 18KT Yellow Gold Plated items should always be stored in the soft pouch that they arrived in

WHAT ARE THE MAIN DIFFERENCES BETWEEN SOLID KARAT GOLD AND GOLD PLATED?

Whether it's 10KT, 14KT, 18KT solid gold that means that it's gold from the surface to the core. The KT stands for the percentage of pure gold in the piece, the higher the karat the more pure gold is in the piece.

PRISM's 14KT gold plated jewellery has a base of sterling silver and then a heavy layer of electroplated 14kt yellow gold, 3 microns thick which is twice as thick as the industry standard.

The best thing to do is ask yourself the following question:

How often will I be wearing the piece?

If you plan on wearing the piece every day or even several times a week it's best to invest in karat gold to ensure your piece will last you for years to come.

If it's only going to be occasional ie. a special date night, or girls weekend on the town you would be more than fine with the 18kt gold plated versions.

There are several care & maintenance tips that can keep your gold plated pieces in tip top shape. Keep them away from cosmetics, perfumes & lotions. Do not wear them in chlorine or salt water pools. Remove before showering and any exercise. It's best to store them in the PRISM pouch that you received the piece in, or in a soft cloth bag away from other jewellery and metals to avoid unnecessary scratches, knicks, etc.

IS MY PRISM JEWELRY WATERPROOF AND WILL IT TARNISH?

Our solid gold or stainless steel pieces will not tarnish.

The waterproof brass and sterling silver pieces of PRISM jewellery are rhodium plated which is a nickel free plating that is electroplated on the piece to prevent it from tarnishing.

Our PRISM brass jewelry is crafted with a high-quality, water-resistant coating that makes it safe for everyday wear, including during showers and workouts. However, to maintain the integrity, shine, and longevity of your pieces, we recommend the following care guidelines:

Even with our protective finish, brass is a metal that can naturally develop patina over time. We view this as part of its organic beauty—but if you prefer a brighter finish, a gentle polish with a jewelry cloth can help restore its shine.

Please note: While our protective finish helps our jewelry withstand everyday wear, factors like individual skin chemistry, humidity, and product exposure can affect how the plating wears over time. If you're prone to faster metal reactions, we recommend avoiding prolonged water exposure and using a soft cloth to dry and store your piece after wear.
